Diane
and Carol had been friends for many years. They and
their husbands had taken frequent vacations together,
and shared a great many memories.
When
Diane's husband died, Carol's husband had tried to do
what he could to help her, making himself useful in
many caring ways. Now, he had died also, and the funeral
was tomorrow.
Carol's
husband was in the room with her. She turned to see
him standing beside her fully materialized. He was wearing
a plaid Scottish cap which he had often worn during
his life.
He
said, "Diane, I have been there for you and the kids
all these years. Now it's your turn to be there for
Carol." His voice sounded exactly as it always had,
and he appeared to be a normal physical being. But after
he delivered his message, his image turned misty and
he gradually disappeared.
