Carol's husband had died a few weeks earlier after a long illness. They had been in love since they were teen-agers and had recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. This particular night, she was in bed before going to sleep, and was saying her prayers. She was definitely awake.

While she was lying there, she was aware that her husband was lying in the bed beside her where he had always slept. He leaned over and put his arms around her. She both saw and felt him. He was fully materialized and looked physical. Then he gradually vanished.

It was similar to something that had happened just before he died. They had been alongside each other on the bed and he had said to her, "We've had a wonderful life together, haven't we?"
